Dear Civic Band member:

I am happy to announce the beginning of the 2011 Ilion Civic Band season and I would like very much to have you join us this summer! Many of us are working hard to make it the best summer yet!

Our first rehearsal will be held on Monday, May 23, at 7:30 PM, at the Ilion HS Band Room. Rehearsals will continue each Monday night throughout May ,June, and July at 7:30. The tentative performance schedule for this summer is as follows:

We typically try to play fairly advanced music in a relaxed atmosphere. Our band is comprised of a variety of musicians including community members from a large area, music teachers and advanced high school students, all of whom enjoy playing.

Mike Fenton has volunteered to conduct the band this year. He has been working, for some time now, to put together some very creative programs, and Ken McCluskey is helping a great deal with publicity and investigating some additional avenues of funding.

Please don't be deterred if you are not able to make all the rehearsals or performances, although we would like to have you play as often as possible. Be sure to invite any friends you know who may be interested in playing with us this summer. The more the merrier!
